Set out allotted & awarded.. - ..unto the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of St James South Elmham: fourth from the bottom, this paragraph gave the Greshaw Green enclosure to the village in the mid 19th century. The orchard now provides additional interest in this place of exercise and recreation.

The site from the air - This is included here as it shows the triangular nature of the orchard field well. It was taken later (7 July 2010) than the other pictures in this album and the cuts made to define the orchard clearing, footpaths and to deal with pernicious outcrops of dock can be seen. Common Road at the top, Metfield Road curves away at the bottom.

The field under snow - The winter of 2009 -2010 was harsh and the site was inaccessible for 3 or 4 months. In February 2010 we are hoping the (very expensive) wild flower meadow seed mix is surviving under the snow blanket.
